Introducing Cinnamon Boutique Restaurant’s Executive Chef
The Chef at Cinnamon Boutique Restaurant, Alma Oosthuizen, received her training via The Culinary Art Institute of Africa in Cape Town, and qualifying three years later with a chef restaurateur diploma in 1999. She received her practical training at C.A.I.A’s local & international award winning restaurant, Emily’s. She then worked and travelled in the United Kingdom for 3 years. Alma started her career as a Pastry chef, first at the 5 star 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa and then the 5 star Arabella Sheraton Hotel in Cape Town. In 2005 Alma moved to the Garden Route. She worked at the 5 star Relais & Chateau, Tsala Treetop lodge for 3 years, first as Sous Chef and then as Executive Chef.
Before joining the team at Cinnamon Boutique, Alma was the Executive Chef at Oubaai Golf Club.
Alma’s cooking style is to some extent informed by nouvelle cuisine, but her Afrikaans roots bring a very traditional South African slant to her menus & recipes, mixed with international spices & combinations. Where the sweet course is concerned, she prefers a decadent approach with lots of creativity on the plate.
Backed by well trained staff, Alma is committed to ensuring that your dining experience at Cinnamon Boutique will be the finest in the Garden Route.
